Therapy is about building trust and working together to make sense of what you're experiencing. You won't be pushed to share more than you feel comfortable with, and we'll move at a pace that feels right for you. Whether we're exploring past trauma, building confidence, or understanding relationship patterns, our sessions will focus on finding practical ways to move forward.
That is entirely up to you. There is no fixed number of sessions. We might agree on an initial number when you first come, and then we can review this after these are completed or at any point in between. Sometimes knowing that you have a specific number of sessions can help provide the space for you to explore a particular issue, without pressure. Sometimes clients might find that there are further issues to look at, or sometimes they may feel that, for the time being, their issues feel resolved.
An integrative therapist believes there isn’t just one therapeutic approach that can help you in all situations. Instead, I consider you as an individual and use elements of different approaches to help you explore and cope with your problems. Every client who walks through the door is different. What works for one person might not work for another. As an integrative therapist, I will choose the right approach and make your therapy unique for you.
Everyone. Using a person-centred approach in integrative counselling is suitable for a wide range of clients and a wide range of issues. The spirit of person-centred counselling is to build trust in a supportive therapeutic relationship. This offers you the freedom to express your emotions and to talk about difficult issues with no pressure or judgment, in an open and honest space. Counselling can be a very empowering experience and a proactive choice for you.
A wide range of issues, for example: Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Grief, Relationship issues, Life limiting illnesses, Transitions in life, Addictions, Anger issues, to Traumas. However, you don’t always need a specific issue. It could just be that you don’t feel life is quite how you want it to be, maybe you feel stuck or lost, and there could be reasons that are worth exploring to find clarity.
I offer counselling sessions for young people aged 13 years and above. Seeking therapy for children and young people can be daunting; however, it offers a safe space for young people to explore their feelings, thoughts, and experiences without judgement. It is normal for parents and carers to feel concerned about seeking therapy for their child, which is why I work alongside you and your child and explore ways to improve the child’s wellbeing and support you as parents and families.
