Does online therapy actually work?

This is one of the most common questions people ask. The short answer is yes. A substantial body of research now shows that online therapy produces outcomes comparable to face-to-face work for most people and most presenting issues.

What makes therapy effective is the relationship between client and therapist, the quality of attention, the safety of the space, and the honesty of the conversation. None of those things depend on being in the same room.

Many people actually find it easier to speak honestly online. Being in a familiar environment, without the journey or the waiting room, can reduce the barrier to getting started and make the sessions feel more natural.

Who it suits particularly well Online therapy works especially well for people with busy schedules, those who find travelling difficult, people with anxiety who find new environments challenging, and anyone living outside the Hertfordshire area who wants to work with Tony specifically.
